Welcome to Edge!! This program is part of the Life Teen family: a dynamic, international, Catholic youth ministry program (lifeteen.com). Through Edge, we are pulling our kids out of classrooms and helping them encounter the Way, the Truth, and the Life through prayer, Scripture, high-energy games, and authentic Catholic teaching.

  • Schedule: Meets two Sundays a month, 4:30-6:00 at Christ King in the new JPII Youth Room.

    • Cost: $125, includes a day retreat

  • Content: 6-7th grade will explore the Catholic faith through the Edge curriculum. 8th grade will go through the Youth Alpha series.

  • Mark Your Calendar:

    • March 14 – Retreat: Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally

  • Christ-Centered & Holy Spirit Directed: As children of the Father, Jesus Christ is the savior of us all and the hero of our story. Everything we do is in love of Him, through the discernment and power of the Holy Spirit, and is in the hopes of helping others “live life to the full,” (John 10:10).

  • Unapologetically Catholic: We love the Church that Christ established and the treasury of wisdom, witness, and worship she offers us. As fellow members of the Communion of Saints and the Body of Christ, we invite teens and families to share in the sacramental life of the Church.

  • A Community of Belonging: Edge nights are open to all 6-8th graders. We strive to offer an environment where students can find authentic friendships, be genuine in their questions and doubts, and be loved and challenged by adults and one another.

  • Dynamic & Engaging: We strive to preach the Gospel in a dynamic way and give students the opportunity to respond to it in discussion and prayer. We want every student to know that they matter, they have a role to play in the Kingdom, and to participate in the life of the Church, both inside and outside of the parish walls.

  • Structured Environment: We offer all of this in a structured 90 min. program that encompasses fun and games, a message, discussion, Scripture, and prayer.

6th & 7th Graders - Bible Needed!

Please bring a Catholic Bible with you each week. If you don’t have one, we’re happy to provide you with one. If you’re looking for a good Bible to purchase, I recommend this one or this one, but any Catholic, “New American” translation will work! Plus, we always have a few extra Bibles, if you forget yours.

Edge runs from September through May from 4:30-6:00pm at Christ King. While we call the entirety of our middle school program, "Edge" only the 6-7th grade will use the Edge curriculum. The 8th grade will meet in a separate space to watch and discuss Alpha. You can read more about these two programs below.

2019-2020 Costs:

  • For Non-Parishioners: $160, includes day retreat on March 14.

6-7th GRADE

Edge is a Catholic middle school youth ministry program. It provides a safe and fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way.

Now more than ever middle school youth need the truth and love of Jesus Christ to guide their lives and they need the faith presented in a way that makes sense to them and is relevant to their lives. Edge accomplishes this and builds a foundation of faith that will guide the youth as they face many difficulties and help them as they begin to make decisions that affect the rest of their teen years. As middle school youth wade through all the difficulties of this time of life, they have real questions and need real answers. Edge provides an environment where youth can explore their Catholic faith, ask questions, build healthy relationships with their peers, and grow in prayer, virtue, and a relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Gather: Small Group Check-In & Prayer (10 min); Fun & Games (20 min)

  • Proclaim: Main Message/Teaching of Night (15 min)

  • Break: Small Group Discussion & Bible Study (25 min)

  • Send: Prayer (15 min)

Alpha is a place to explore life's big questions, to say what you think and to hear other people's points of view. Students will watch short videos that re-present the Gospel message and then students are given a chance to discuss their beliefs and experiences of faith.

As children reach adolesence, their brains grow and change. They have new questions, doubts, and opinions that they haven't voiced or wondered about before. That's why we want to give our 8th graders the chance to explore their Christian faith, voice their doubts, ask their questions, and re-encounter the goodness of God.

In each session you eat food, watch a talk, and discuss questions in small groups.

  • Food has a way of bringing people together and building community. So even if it’s a light snack, sweets or a full meal, Alpha always starts with food.

  • The talks tackle core questions about life and faith from a Christian perspective. Each episode averages 23 minutes in length.

  • Throughout each episode, there are three discussion breaks. These breaks give everyone a chance to share thoughts and ideas in small groups without fear of being corrected or judged.

  • Along the way there are opportunities to experience worship through music and moments for prayer.

  • All of this is done in a fun environment where anyone is welcome.
